Impact of COVID-19 on Sexual and Reproductive Health

About The Book

AMPF has launched a study on the impact of COVID-19 on SRH in Morocco in 2020. The results showed an effect of the pandemic on FP services marked by a significant decrease in demand for contraceptive products except for injectables which experienced an average increase of 38%. Access to antenatal and postnatal consultations and medical consultations was also largely disrupted. The survey revealed that the fear of being contaminated by the virus and the difficulty of obtaining permission to travel during confinement were the main reasons why clients refrained from using the services provided. Psychological health problems (82.3% of cases) were the majority compared to 13% who had physical health problems. In terms of sexuality 24% reported that their sexuality was disturbed 68.2% of which were due to fear of being infected with SARS-CoV2 during sexual intercourse. Promoting modern methods of long-term contraception and the development of new tools and approaches such as telemedicine self-care or home-based services are the main conclusions of this study.
