This book presents an investigation into the impact of multi-voice poetry on the oral reading fluency of Special Needs students. This book begins by placing the concept of poetry therapy and its impact on Special Needs persons in the context of cognitive neuroscience.Throughout this book it can be noted that Special Needs students'' attitudes towards reading were captured via a Likert scale while a fluency test was used to measure students fluency as well as their word count per minute. Via the use of poetry it was discovered that students'' motivational level for learning as well as their self-efficacy were positively impacted during the research period. These findings are congruent with the ideas of cognitive neuroscientists and education theorists who claim that Poetry Therapy generally leads to the development of stronger neural connections/new neural pathways amongst Special Needs persons. This subsequently leads to the generation of more prominent social and language skills amongst Special Needs persons.
