Implementation of Maintainability Processes in Aircraft Manufacturers

Maintainability aims to reduce aircraft operating and maintenance costs increasing productivity and reducing life cycle costs. However in order to achieve these objectives it is necessary to formally and structurally implement a maintainability process within the manufacturer that ensures compliance with market requirements. This book aims to adapt an organisational model for the implementation of a maintainability process in civil transport aircraft manufacturers. Steps and stages are suggested to ensure that the organisation's maintainability objectives are met throughout the aircraft development cycle. The activities covered include the allocation of resources tools and people support from executive leadership changes in cultural and behavioural patterns and the creation of a maintainability database.
