The Africanness of an African is in his culture. The Igbo society is not an exception. The Igbo society had culture which aided them in their meaningful existence. Among this is their sense of communalism. Communal living fostered peace unity security and cordial co-existence among the Igbo of Nigeria. Unfortunately this has been eroded by modernity and civilization. Change is inevitable. However contemporary Igbo society should be cautious in neglecting their good cultural heritage; for culture is peoples identity.
