Improving Classroom Practice Through a Culturally-Centered Education Program

Volume III builds on the cultural context developed in Volume I to enable beginning and experienced teachers in all grade levels and instructional settings to create effective culturally-centered educational experiences for students by broadening the curriculum of typical American classrooms to embrace multiple cultures and points of view. Module One explains how to design and implement a culturally-centered education program and Module Two shows how to use the education program as the centerpiece upon which to build connections with families. From this volume of the series readers learn how to help all students achieve their full potentials. Through day-to-day classroom practice in both the regular and hidden curriculum and by joining forces with parents and the community they learn to employ practices which broaden students' understanding of the world and its peoples.
