Improving Milk Production and Quality Using Herbs as Feed Additives

About The Book

Diseases and parasitic infections are serious constraints affecting goat production worldwide. Economic losses are caused by decreased production cost of prevention cost of treatment and possible death of infected animals. The effects of diseases and parasitic infection are influenced by host management and disease/parasitic agent factors. There are two reasons to seek for new unconventional solutions to protect animals’ health away from the antibiotics first: the residual antibiotics in the animals’ products especially the milk and the second reasons is that the overuse of antibiotics in human and animals led to rapid rise in the number of bacteria strains resistant to majority of antibiotics which makes infection harder to control (Tan et al. 2000). One of these unconventional solutions is using the medicinal plants such as (Echinacea purpurea Nigella sativa and Cichorium intybus).
