In Place of Work

<p>Originally published in 1983 this book promotes understanding of the provision for the young unemployed in Britain in the 1980s both in policy and practice through a series of research-based papers. Various strategies are analyzed which were available to policy makers. The place of black youth amongst the unemployed and the connections between unemployment and street violence are also discussed. The book focusses on Britain but high levels of youth unemployment were found all over the Western world during that period.</p>
