The monograph is an outcome of a project titled Past Present and Future Prospects of Indigenous Language Documentation and Maintenance. The main aim of the project is to map the evolution of the global debate on the endangerment and revival of the world’s languages and cultures with the research focus dedicated to the situation in (former) British territories where the status of English is an important factor contributing to the modification of language and cultural diversity. The book is a collection of eight papers and treatises studying diverse sociolinguistic aspects related to problems of language death language shift and language maintenance. It draws examples from various parts of the globe and from the history of various languages.
