In search of Western philosophy ''is a deep survey of the history of Western philosophy from the Ancient Greeks to Existentialist. It concentrates on the evolution of philosophical ideas in a dialectical dance between the great philosophers of the western tradition. From the idealism of Plato through the Rationalism of Descartes it looks at the abyss into which David Hume led it to the bold attempts of Emmanuel Kant to retrieve it from total chaos while Hegal lifted it into another plane making mere metaphysics too lame to convey the totality of knowledge by creating what he called ''The phenomenology of the spirit''. The later evolution of Empiricism into Logical Positivism by men like Bertrand Russel and the American attempt to humanize it with Pragmatism all play their part in this great saga of thought.
