In Sickness and In Health

In Sickness and In Health is an integrated STEAM project created and conducted at High Tech High North County. Our team of seventy-two students worked for months to put together a lasting project ending with a school-wide exhibition. The purpose of this project is to make students and viewers start thinking about the inevitable diseases that exist in our world. Combining biology humanities and art the In Sickness and In Health project informed the public of the four most common life threatening diseases and their preventions. In biology students connected with novel research and researchers to implement health plans to prevent what they found they were most likely to die from. In humanities students connected deeply with their family's stories and conducted oral histories of individuals affected. In art students visualized the disease disease prevention and the day-to-day life of the researchers. The writing and images in this book is just a small slice of work from the project.
