In situ expression of interleukin-17 in the skin

About The Book

This work shows that the cytokine interleukin (IL)-17 which is an important messenger that mediates signals from immune cells to epithelial cells is constantly expressed in a very disease-specific manner within the 30 most common histologically diagnosable skin diseases. The surprising finding is that not only T cells as already known but also granulocytes are cellular sources of IL-17. This has direct clinical and therapeutic consequences.
