Dr. Egas Moniz intended to write the history of this period of the evolution of hypnotism and consequently divulge the name of Father Faria whose unfamiliar and hectic life is almost unknown and whose name has only sounded in the ears of the large public as being that of the attractive prisoner of the Count of Monte Cristo in which Alexandre Dumas attributes to him Italian birth. this work is a matter of justice and scientific pursuit doubly interesting to someone who has devoted his activities to neurological studies.
