The Book Starts With My Childhood In Canada. Trips By Steamship With My Mother Are Described Ending With Leaving France Just Before The German Occupation And The Perilous Convoy Back To The Safety Of Canada. The Canadian School Subsequent College And Scholarship To France End In Marriage To A Greek Student. After His Appointment As History Professor At Hiram College In Ohio We End Up Surfing The Waves Of His Brilliance Through Scholarships And Grants To Madison Wisconsin Brussels Belgium Washington D.C. And The Gennadius Library In Athens Greece. This Book Is Insightful And Humorous In The Portrayal Of Travel And The Mingling Of Families Of Different Backgrounds. My Life Was Influenced By Two Powerful Women My Mother And My Mother-In-Law. These Women Although From Different Cultures Were Ahead Of Their Times; Independent Strong Willed And Courageous. Subconsciously These Women Prepared Me To Carry On After The Devastating End Of My Marriage And The Premature Death Of My Mother. When I Could Not Make Ends Meet Their Example Encouraged Me To Take Successful Rug Buying Trips To Iran And Turkey And Later To Start A New Career As A Landscape Designer.. After My Fatherâ S Death I Became A Garden Designer Studying In Ohio England And France. Some Of My Experiences Here In Northeast Ohio Are Recorded In All My Phlox Published By Kent University Press 1999.. The Title In Those Days Was Inspired By Stories Told To Grandchildren Of How It Was  In Those Daysâ .
