About The Book

Malaria is one of the most critical parasitic diseases affecting humans. People on all continents are at risk but the poorest countries particularly in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa Asia and America suffer the most. Severe malaria is primarily caused by Plasmodium falciparum responsible for the majority of malaria-related illnesses and death. We investigated anti-plasmodial activity of Markhamia platycalyx on erythrocytic stage of Plasmodium falciparum with the aim of identifying phytochemicals in Markhamia platycalyx leaves roots and stem barks responsible for the anti-plasmodial activity. Phytochemicals were analyzed through Gas Chromatography-Mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Anti-plasmodial activity of Markhamia platycalyx leaves stem and root barks extracts were performed based on the WorldWide Antimalarial Resistance Network (WWARN) (2011).
