Aromatase inhibitors have a central role in endocrine therapy for estrogen receptor (ER)-positive breast cancer in postmenopausal women it interferes with the body’s ability to produce estrogen from androgens by suppressing aromatase enzyme activity. Aromatase inhibitors use two distinct mechanisms to block the action of aromatase and thereby reduce estrogen production.
