Independence and Accountability of Indian Judiciary

An independent impartial and informed Judiciary holds a key in the realization of just honest open and accountable government. Judicial independence is a sine qua non to act impartially to make just decisions without any fear or favor. The independence of the Judiciary is founded on public confidence and public trust. Without that confidence and trust its functioning cannot command respect. It is thus important that Judiciary should be perceived to be independent and impartial.
