Indicators influencing the survival of forest species

About The Book

The objective of this work was to evaluate the morphological and physiological quality indicators of Pinus hartwegii L. and Pinus douglasiana Martinez by the effect of preconditioning in the nursery as well as to determine the percentage of survival. For the nursery phase plants were selected for each forest species which were transplanted and maintained in a preconditioning process in order to evaluate the morphological and physiological indicators of each species. In the field phase the preconditioned seedlings were established in the field in order to evaluate their survival rate in the field. Finally there is evidence that each pine species responds differently to preconditioning so it is important to identify and know the factors that affect the quality of nursery plants for each species and thus improve their percentage of survival and development in the field.
