Indigenous dispute resolution systems are well-organized efficient in terms of time and socially integrated with a focus on rapprochement the preservation and enhancement of societal peace. The methods and approaches have their roots in African people's traditions conventions and culture. Its foundation is to restore balance to settle conflict and to eliminate disputes (Choudree 1999:1). This is the essence and source of its value. Indigenous conflict resolution processes are basically traditional and at the same time less intimidating due to the fear of the forebears whom they believe that they monitor everything the living are doing; hence apply caution in their judgment. There are many indigenous peace agencies and conflict resolution systems in Africa. They include Oromo East Africa Beti Cameroon Arusha Tanzania Kpeke Liberia Gikuyu Kenya Toubou Chad and Mali among others. These are councils of elders who conciliate on issues and give judgments based on justice equity and fairness.
