Trisong Detsen invited to Tibet Āchārya Śāntarakshita a great saint and scholar from ancient Nālandā University. </p><p>Numerous texts were translated during the reign of Songtsen Gampo. The king himself took a great interest in the translation work and became a scholar. For the first time some of the Buddhist precepts were incorporated into the laws of the land of Tibet.</p>
