This work focuses on infinitival constructions in Hindi. Infinitives are studied under the scope of morphology and syntax. The aim of this study was to find a semantic justification for the nature of infinitival clauses in Hindi. Infinitival clauses here have been sub-categorized into purposive permissive and injunctive clauses. Control infinitives sub-divided under the try and decide type which can be related to restructuring and non-restructuring infinitives have been analyzed for Hindi. The work includes a discussion of the three types of complementizer placements in Hindi. kɑ-nɑ and nɑ ke lɪye are two of these placements that allow infinitival complements.
