Influence of Re-admission Policy on Girl-Child Enrollment in Kenya

About The Book

Teenage years are for some girls a time of learning and increasing self-awareness. Early motherhood interferes with the transition to adulthood and school attendance. Education is a human right with mighty power to equalize and transform. Beijing Platform for the action of 1995 came to rescue of girls by allowing readmission policy of school-age mothers and pregnant girls allowed to school. High-income countries record successful readmission policy than developing countries. In Kenya motherhood beckons early for many girls with 18% getting pregnant before the age of 18 years. West-Pokot County is among counties with many cases of teenage pregnancy. Studies done globally reveal inadequate data of school-age mothers resuming school especially those in primary schools. The study was conducted in public primary schools in West-Pokot Sub-County Kenya.
