Influencing Organisational Culture through Technology

I want to feel I am making a difference at work. For me developing and implementing a user-centred intranet became a challenge for influencing the organisational culture where I worked. Being in a management role I undertook management interventions to support the project. During the project I discovered a sub-role for myself - internal communication management. This role often exists informally if at all. Yet I came to believe that internal communication is a vital aspect of organisational culture where there is a fast pace of change. I also came to embrace a networked organisational paradigm which encourages internal networking and employee participation. No matter what role you are in whether Management IT or New Media I hope you will become more informed about these aspects of organi­sational culture internal communication technology and organisa­tional practices that relate to them. I also hope you will use this knowledge to positively influence your organisational culture.
