Information activities of the United Nations

About The Book

The information and communication activities of the United Nations are directly linked to the development of intergovernmental organizations as separate actors in world politics. Over more than 70 years of its existence the UN has undergone a number of changes in its organizational structure and working principles. These changes as well as dynamically changing trends and the growth of scientific and technological progress have significantly influenced the process of information exchange between the Organization and the general public. Globalization has had an active impact on the transformation of the information and communication system introducing new technologies and expanding channels of information dissemination into the work of the UN. This process has resulted in the formation of separate structural units at the global and local levels whose work has not yet been sufficiently studied from a scientific point of view. This study was conducted at the Department of Foreign Journalism and Literature of the Institute of Journalism of the Belarusian State University under the supervision of Associate Professor Boris Leonidovich Zaleskiy with the assistance of the Department of Public Information of the United Nations Office in the Republic of Belarus.
