Information Needs & Information Seeking Behaviour Management Students

About The Book

The Internet has tremendous influence on the information seeking behavior of students and academics today. It is justifiable to say that the Internet single-handedly revolutionized campus computing. It did not take long before students were among the largest user segment of this medium. Niederlander (n.d:n.p) points that the Internet has a definite impact on how people seek information and their expectations of how the Internet can meet their information needs. Lawrence and Miller (2000) observed that vendors of electronic commerce vigorously promote the idea that the answers to all of our questions are only a keystroke away. Observing the situation at Ahmadu Bello University and judging by the extent of web usage these observations are spot on although some would still argue that not everything is available online. It is entirely conceivable why searching for information on the Internet has become popular in higher learning today - by connecting to the Internet an entirely new world of electronic communication and information (with a greater range of topics than any other information source) is opened to students staff and researchers.
