Innovation by Cross-cutting KETs

Translation of innovation and reduction of time-to-market are important challenges of incoming years. Commercialization of emerging technological innovations is not always achieved. In fact transferring technological knowledge could be a time-consuming and lengthy process resulting in a failure regarding market entrance. In this context the integration between Key Enabling Technologies (KETs) will be essential for competitiveness and innovation. Among the KETs Nanotechnology is expected to make a rapid impact on society; especially in the healthcare domain were the convergence of technology innovations contribute to the development of Nanobiotechnologies and Nanomedicine. This book analyzes the current situation of these disciplines focusing on two challenging scenarios: the technology transfer and commercialization of innovative technology-based products in an effort to overcome the gap from lab to market. The strong interdisciplinary character combined with the possibility of manipulating a material atom by atom opens up unknown fields and provides an endless source of innovation and creativity.
