Innovative Power System Protection Algorithms

The present scenario of the modern power network has obligated protection system to perform better. Application of multi-functional measurement devices inclusion of renewable sources and FACTS devices and extreme utilization of transmission system are the major factors behind the undesired and unintentional operation of protection scheme. System stressed conditions like power swing voltage instability and load encroachment are another concern for protection scheme. Protective relay operates beyond their setting guidelines and zones. This book investigates on distance and differential relaying for different power networks under different critical equipment and system operating conditions. Different innovative solutions based on local and remote end information are proposed for each critical condition.
