About The Author: I Was Born In 1925. As A Tot I Grew Up In The Rockaways Jamaica Bay Separating Me From Kennedy Airport. I Became A Marble Champ Before Moving To Brooklyn. In High School I Learned The Skills Of Machinist.I Was Drafted In 1943. Until 1946 I Served With The Navy And The Machinist Training Helped Me With My Duties Aboard Ship. While Attending A Ship'S Reunion I Penned A Poem For The Honor Entitled The John M. Bermingham D.E. 530. That Poem Became A Hit. I Continued To Phrase Words And I Am Still At It. This Is My Second Published Work.When I Lost The Tip Of My Ring Finger At Age 21 I Was Disqualified For The New York City Fireman'S Job. I Had A Fishing Station Where Boats Were Rented For A Short While But I Eventually Became A Police Officer For The Port Of Ny Nj Authority And Retired In 1973.In 1951 I Married Martha Bachman And We Had Five Children Together. In 1955 I Moved To New Jersey. In 1963 I Stopped Smoking And Took Up Motorcycle Riding. During My Tenure As A Police Officer I Was Becoming A Proficient Archer And Opened A Pro Shop With Archery Shooting Lanes When I Retired From The Port Authority. I Quit The Archery Shop In 1980 And Became A Security Guard At Rutger'S University In New Jersey.In 1990 I Retired Again At The Age Of 65 And Moved To Pennsylvania. I Continued To Write Poems And I Am Still At It. In 2007 While Under Treatment For A Curable Cancer An Internal Artery Broke. It Took Fifteen Units Of Blood To Bring Me Back. I Felt The Lord Let Me Live So That I Could Get My Poems In Print.On February 2 2008 I Moved To Missouri To Be Close To My Daughter Son-In-Law And Grand-Kids After Being In And Out Of Hospitals And Rest Homes. I Have Been Doing Well In Missouri And Hope You Enjoy The Rhyming Verses And Thoughts That Are Enclosed.
