Inspiratory and Expiratory Muscle Training on Healthy Young Adult
English

About The Book

This randomized controlled trial investigated the effects of respiratory muscle training (RMT) on healthy young adults aged 18-30. The study compared three interventions: Inspiratory Muscle Training (IMT) Expiratory Muscle Training (EMT) and a combined approach examining their impact on respiratory strength pulmonary function and exercise tolerance over eight weeks. The study involved 60 healthy participants and found significant improvements across all training groups. The IMT group showed a 27.4% increase in maximal inspiratory pressure while the EMT group demonstrated a 26.0% increase in maximal expiratory pressure. The combined training group achieved the most substantial improvements in both measures suggesting a synergistic effect. All groups showed enhanced pulmonary function parameters (FVC FEV1) The combined training group demonstrated the most significant gains with FVC improving by 11.1% and PEFR by 13.0%.While conducted on healthy individuals the findings have implications for clinical populations with respiratory disorders and athletes seeking performance enhancement.
