Integrating Contemporary World Music Into Our Teaching

This book is a compilation of seven piano pieces that the author commissioned from four different Colombian composers. It discusses the process of commissioning the pieces a brief history of Colombian music and the value of including contemporary and world music into music teaching. The discussion of each piece includes a detailed structural and musical analysis and a description of the influences of folk and contemporary languages they demonstrate. It also discusses ideas for performance practice and assigns a suggested level of difficulty for each piece presents a conversation on their technical challenges and gives pedagogical advise for overcoming them.
