Demographic change is making the management of knowledge an increasingly important resource. In future the success of companies will depend even more on whether they create suitable conditions for transferring knowledge across generations. This thesis aims to improve understanding of intergenerational knowledge transfer. From the perspective of ageing it examines tools and methods of knowledge transfer that are particularly suitable for securing the knowledge and experience of long-serving employees when they leave the company. To this end three knowledge management approaches are first discussed and three types of knowledge transfer are presented. Subsequently various transfer methods are discussed that appear relevant and particularly suitable for preserving knowledge for a company.
