Acute bronchiolitis is the most common respiratory infection in infants under 12 months of age characterized by a first episode of wheezing expiratory dyspnea and catarrhal symptoms. Mainly caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) it especially affects infants between 2 and 3 months. This disease involves inflammation and necrosis in the lower respiratory tract with increased mucus. Early management is crucial especially in children with risk factors such as prematurity low birth weight or chronic lung disease.
