The purpose of this book is to examine two different types of internationalization strategies: 1) a short-term internationalization strategy which depends on macro and microeconomic factors exogenous to firms and 2) a long-term internationalization strategy which implies a strong commitment by firms to become competitive at international levels. A theoretical framework has been developed to address the specific characteristics of small and medium sized enterprises from emerging economies.
