As of 2017 the date this book was published Dr. Lino Garcia Jr. Professor Emeritus of Spanish Literature has been employed in one capacity or another at the same uni-versity for half a century. Growing pains and resistance were associated with the changes that took place at the school. Armed with experiences from his family background educational years and his time in the U.S. Navy Garcia set out to do his part to make right those things that he believed to be wrong. Leadership takes on many forms. Garcia led by serving as a role model for his students by championing various reform initiatives and by supporting several key leaders who he believed were willing to make needed changes. In sum these interviews reveal some of Garcia's many previously unknown contributions to South Texas.
