Investigation of lateral vibrations in the turbine-generator unit 5

About The Book

The book analyzes the lateral vibrations of a system essential to the production of electricity in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The study based on measurements made with twelve sensors and probes reveals that the vibrations of the guide bearings and the rotor exceed the acceptable limits at speeds of 100 to 250 rpm. These excesses can cause mass imbalances eccentricity of the axis and deformations of the coupling shafts. Carried out under static and dynamic conditions the analysis shows significant deviations from international standards alerting to critical problems. The article concludes on the urgency of interventions in particular the realignment of components to ensure the performance and safety of the unit while recommending monitoring of pressure fluctuations and associated thermal problems.
