Ionising and Non-Ionising Radiation and its Effects

This book consists of the investigative study of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation. High energy ultraviolet rays x-rays gamma rays alpha and beta particles protons high speed energetic electrons (negatrons) positrons charged mesons muons heavy ions neutrons and other nuclear particles constitute ionizing radiation. This radiation causes ionization and can produce damage to DNA causing mutations in its genetic codes and cancer.burns and injuries of this type can be caused by radiation (medical diagnostic and treatment equipment: X-rays radiotherapy) or by contamination (nuclear accidents war) such as Chernobyl. Electric and magnetic fields radio frequency microwaves infrared visible light constitute non-ionising radiation. Non-ionising radiation does not have enough energy to convert molecules into ions but it can produce heat to the molecules. burns can be caused by this radiation for example due to ultraviolet light laser and biological effects are being studied.
