Sefevid Iran was a constant focus of attention for Europeans especially the French of the XVІІth century. In this book we have studied Iranian society according to the travel accounts of the traveler-traders named Jean Chardin and Jean-Baptiste Tavernier as these two travel accounts are considered true resources of Sefevid Iran. Fascinated by the strangeness and diversity of manners and customs the two great travel writers gave marvellous images of the country in the Sefevid era after their long stay. We have meticulously described Sefevid Iran from the point of view of these two travelers from various political social religious cultural and historical aspects such as the state the public religions beliefs festivals and the country''s artistic and architectural flourishing.
