Ireland and the Anglo-Norman church

Bringing together a selection of lectures from one of the earliest professional historians of Ireland the Reverend Dr. George Stokes (1843-1898) this volume focuses on the history of Ireland and Irish Christianity after the Anglo-Norman invasion in the twelfth century. Starting with the last years of Irish independence Stokes describes the many intrigues invasions and machinations of the Irish and Anglo-Norman elites through to the dawn of the Reformation. Intended to be a companion volume of Stokes’ Ireland and the Celtic Church this volume was first published in 1897.
