In their book Is That Your Child?: Mothers Talk about Rearing Biracial Children Kilson and Ladd explore the challenges that mothers of biracial children encounter. Although the literature on biracial Americans has expanded in the last twenty years Kilson and Ladd's book is unique in focusing on the experiences of a heterogeneous set of black and white mothers of different generations and socioeconomic circumstances.
