Ishtar and Tammuz: A Babylonian Seasonal Myth

The Green One Tammuz is sent to reside on the ground below by his mother Ishtar the Babylonian deity of all creation. She however becomes so envious of how much love he receives that she has him murdered. For the return of the green spirit the people pray to their goddess.
