ISLANDS OF CERTAINTY SEAS OF LANGUAGE

Edgar Morin's work has been fundamental in the transformation of contemporary educational thought. In his texts La cabeza bien puesta and Los siete saberes necesarios para la educación del futuro Morin proposes an education that recognizes and addresses the complexity of knowledge preparing students to face uncertainty interdependence and global challenges. His transdisciplinary approach seeks to integrate fragmented knowledge and overcome the compartmentalization of school knowledge. It also stresses the importance of teaching the human condition and earthly identity fostering an ethic of humankind that promotes mutual understanding and democracy. This approach has influenced various non-Western cultural traditions such as African Bantu thought and Andean cosmovisions which already conceived interconnectedness and complexity as constitutive dimensions of reality.
