Isolation and characterization of microorganisms producing vitamins

About The Book

Vitamins are micronutrients essential for the metabolism of all living organisms. Humans are incapable of synthesizing most vitamins; consequently they have to obtain it exogenously. Vitamin-producing microorganisms represent a more natural and consumer-friendly alternative to chemically synthesized vitamins. This book contains several experiments on microbial production of vitamins using different microorganisms. The first part of this investigation concerned with isolation and identification of vitamin producing microorganisms from plants collected from Upper Egypt. The second part of this study focused on screening for highly riboflavin and β-carotene microbial producers and improvement of medium components for high riboflavin and β-carotene production using statistical methods (Plackett–Burman design and response surface methodology).
