From the first experiences on the Alpine front in the Great War marked by material shortages but also by improvised innovations the volume follows the slow process of modernization of the Royal Army highlighting the progress-and limitations-that characterized the interwar period before analyzing the vehicles used in World War II through campaigns in Europe Africa and the Mediterranean. All this in a richly illustrated book that analyzes all the vehicles and even the tractors used for transport.
