In this edition we highlight some of our contemporary authors such as Beverly East Karl A. Mitchell Geoffrey Philp and Patrice DaCosta. Once again Jamaicans are trailblazers. The 1st Black newspaper in the US has a Jamaican connection. John Russwurm was born in Port Antonio Jamaica in 1799. He along with Samuel Cornish created Freedom's Journal newspaper in 1827. Currently Marlon James has won the Man Booker prize. Finally we say goodbye to Anthony Winkler whose books captured a certain consciousness of Jamaican culture.
