Jamaican Like Me

Jamaican like me gives a glimpse into the life of a child as she navigates her world as a citizen of the USA but also yearning to connect to her parent's Jamaican culture and traditions. This book shares a small portion of the author's summertime experiences with her cousins and friends in Jamaica . Sapphire shared the happy moments of the games she played as well as the fun and joy filled moments she had even if the moments frightened her as they left a long lasting memory of laughter and joy. These moments are especially important to the author Sapphire because they also connects her to her mother's childhood and makes her also feel more connected to her mother. The book shows the beauty and blissfulness of being a child in Jamaica and the beauty of being bicultural.</span></p>
