John Pory 1572-1636

A commoner respected for his knowledge of law and politics Pory was appointed in 1618 secretary to the new governor of Virginia and he became the first speaker of the first Legislative Assembly of America. A professional newsletter writer all of his life he was one of the first journalists of his time.
