<p>This book delves into the nuanced transformation of the sotah ordeal as outlined in Numbers 5:11-31 when interpreted by the Rabbis in the rabbinic texts of the Mishnah and Tosefta. In a departure from the assumptions underpinning the biblical sotah ordeal the Rabbis introduce a distinctive perspective that does not neatly align with preceding Judean and Jewish texts. Employing Michel Foucault's theories on text and power this study seeks to illuminate the underlying thought processes in each text unraveling the power dynamics inherent in the sotah ordeal and biblical depictions of adultery.</p>
