Karbee the Kangaroo Says It's Nice to be Nice was created as a result of my observance of the frequent aggressive behavioral interaction of Preschoolers and Pre-Kindergartners while on staff at a nationally-recognized Child Learning Corporation in Virginia. Albeit that it is perfectly normal for children that age to fight and squabble on occasion I began to ponder how potentially impactful it would be if we as parents teachers and caregivers diligently focus on how to shape and redirect that negative conduct early in our children's lives. Furthermore that we be very deliberate in our approach about teaching them the importance of being kind considering the other person's feelings and differences and respecting their peers. The intention is that this mindset and practice be carried over into our children's early school years adolescence and hopefully throughout adulthood. Consequently helping to possibly stave off some of the harmful and potentially destructive tragedies that we hear about in the news way too often! Karbee the Kangaroo Says It's Nice to be Nice is a fun and exciting way to bring attention to the importance of instructing children about resolving conflict even at three years old! The main character is Karbee the Kangaroo who is by the way no ordinary kangaroo! Karbee who brings a certain magic into Miss Charlotte's Preschool classroom was designed by noting that children love characters they love animals and I believe they possess an even greater fascination with those that hop! Therefore as a former Tutorial and Development Specialist my vision for this intriguing light-hearted adventure is simply to plant the seed in young minds to treat others as they wish to be treated. Training youngsters in an age appropriate way that bullying or undo harshness in not good but working towards resolving conflict peaceably with their friends is a better way.
