There is also a section of miscellaneous records from unknown or out-of-state regions. No attempt has been made to correct the spelling of names which have been taken as they appeared in the original documents. A surname index is included. Kentucky was part of Virginia until 1792 when it entered the Union as the fifteenth state. Daniel Boone is the most famous of the hardy brave settlers who helped to transform this wild frontier land into the beautiful bluegrass country of today. All the early pioneers of Kentucky however faced a life of constant danger from Indian attacks and other hardships. In those early days Kentucky was known as the dark and bloody ground. </p>
