Kete Rangara Jibana (Shades of Life) is an unconventional love story portraying the lives of two women-Rajashri and Kaveri. Set on a realistic backdrop of human desires love and self-interest the novel raises some questions about the mystery behind Kaveri not getting married the possibility of Rajashri ever becoming a mother issues related to the illicit relationship of Debashis with one of them. The psychic inequilibrium of the two female characters is presented brilliantly who are in utter desperation in their search for social identity. The novel too depicts how an accident can change the course of life and how an invincible lady confronts the battle of life singlehandedly to earn identity for herself. The unexpected ending is a fitting denouement to a novel and memorable road trip. Thus the story of this novel filled with surprises and unusual occurrence of events provides a good read.
