He was a lawyer journalist politician historian and novelist. Singh’s professional career started in 1938 with him practicing law. He was the recipient of a number of awards most notably the Padma Vibhushan awarded to him by the Government of India in 2007. The Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest award given to civilians in India. He has authored a number of novels short stories non-fiction works and plays. He died on the 20th of March 2014 at his residence in Delhi of natural causes. His death was mourned by the entire nation.
